Sweet Spell, Voodoo Doughnut at CityWalk Hollywood

by selenash

Voodoo Doughnut made their Hollywood debut at Universal Studio’s CityWalk in Hollywood!  They allowed media and press to have a sneak peak before the doors officially opened for business. As soon as I walked up I immediately felt the high energy.  All that pink lured me in.  I’m guessing most would think that Voodoo in any name would be something dark and uncanny but actually Portland, OR founders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon did a great job of incorporating sugar and spice and all things nice with a hint of VooDoo into their iconic brand.

The new L.A. pastry shop is serving up a range of 60 eclectic doughnuts and as you’d expect to find in LA, they have Vegan options!  The Hollywood Cream treat was specifically created for Universal Studios, so you’ve gotta come here to get it.  Other flavors in Grape Ape, Mango Tango, the Voodoo Bubble (which my youngest son gave a thumbs up), the Bacon Maple Bar (the names tells the story) and last but not least the signature and most eye catching Voodoo Doll.  (There’s a video below showing the creativity that goes into decorating the Voodoo Doll doughnut.)

Neon lights are a big factor at Universal CityWalk during evenings and nights.  VooDoo’s neon sign did not fall short with their attention grabbing voodoo (doll) doughnut.

Welcome to VooDoo Doughnut!  Stumptown Coffee is also a Portland staple and served at the Universal CityWalk location.

We we’re greeted with a preview of what was to come!

I had to pose next to the voodoo guy, welcoming everyone.

The line for anticipation starts here.  Everyone was feeling the Mojo!

Good Things Come in Pink Boxes.  You know you want one!

“The Magic Is In The Hole.”  This phrase gives way to VooDoo Doughnut’s amazingly flavorful doughnut fillings.

Notice all of the details that pulled in lots of the culture of Voodoo  The chandelier, the coffin on the wall and the personalized church stained glass.  It’s like a museum experience inside.

The Stumptown Coffee counter got lots of attention.  They brewed coffee in the first-ever pink Stumptown espresso machine, exclusively at Universal CityWalk.

Voodoo Doughnut have plenty of keepsakes to choose from.  This pink mug with a hole in the middle was my favorite.

Watch the Voodoo Doughnut come to life!

Stumptown Coffee was served hot and cold brewed!
