I did it, I took Time for Me.
I conquered something big. Everybody’s big is different, here’s mine. I took time out for myself, which is not easy for me to do. I feel as if I’m recovering from saying yes all the time and for far too long. You may be ahead of me or you might be right there with me, but spending several hours at Glen Ivy Spa, alone, was one of the best things that I could’ve done…especially in the self-care department. I hope you’ll take a glimpse into my unforgetable visit and take time for you.
Glen Ivy Spa brings out the best of SoCal.
Glen Ivy Spa has been around since 1860! With all those years of experience and to still have a good presence in the SoCal spa industry, you must be doing something right. It’s nestled at the base of the Santa Ana Mountain Range in Corona, California. Once I exited the freeway I drove for several miles before reaching the winding driveway leading to the spa grounds. I wasn’t familiar with Corona at all, so the small town feel of it caught me off guard, in a good way. There was lots of open fields and farms while driving in from Los Angeles as well. Feeling and seeing this slower pace was preparation for what was ahead.
The beautiful, lush grounds of Glen Ivy Hot Springs stretch across 12 acres and include 19 pools and whirlpools to enjoy, including the historic mineral baths. The Hot Springs also include botanical gardens, a labyrinth for self-reflection, and a variety of daily classes and programs, as well as quiet places and gathering areas where guests can relax, renew and re-engage.
I checked into the bathhouse and was given the coziest robe ever. A swimsuit was the perfect attire for participating in all of the body treatments. It was a cool afternoon but that didn’t affect what Glen Ivy had to offer. All pools, unless otherwise noted, were warm and soaked up all the coolness around me.
There are some essentials that I recommend taking with you as you plan your day at Glen Ivy.

The Goco Cafe serves some of the healthiest and tastiest treats. You could indulge and not feel like your detoxing and relaxation were being compromised. Of course, it was complete with a full menu Starbucks!

Professional styling tips with Trish Taylor.
Personal stylist Trish Taylor was on hand helping to select the perfect swimsuit. Working in retail was inspiring to Trish by showing fashion’s transformational powers over people’s emotional wellbeing, and likewise aware of the anxieties and other negative emotions fashion can bring about. Through this Trish became interested in the role psychology plays in style. This began her journey into a separate but interwoven path of discovery, resulting in a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling. She very cleverly merge the two worlds at TrishTaylorStyling.com
Ms. Taylor shared her insight about the right swimsuit for my body I learned:
Trish’s Fab Five Secrets to Finding the Perfect Swim Suit.
- Shop bottoms and tops seperately – women are not one size fits all.
- To create the illusion of curves – try a bikini with feminine detials like a sweetheart bustline.
- Showcase your best assets – with bold colors and fun prints to enhance what your mama gave ya!
- Downplay trouble spots – minimize w/dark, solid colors and color blocking.
- When in doubt, try a one-piece! There is one for everyone!

Club Mud, one of my favorites.
Most people, like myself, had a questionable look as they approached the pool but found a sense of peace and freedom while painting ourselves with the red clay. It was liberating and almost taboo. As the clay dried it seemed as if I could feel the toxins being pulled out of my body. I rinsed at the warm water outdoor showers and enjoyed the light feeling after the mud had been washed away. I highly advise taking moisturizer for your face and body. While I was brave enough to put the red clay on my face, I also noticed that I needed major hydration after rinsing it from my face and body. To allow my body to absorb moisture and continue to detox, I kicked it up to 120 degrees afterward. I sat for ten minutes in the heated mist in their private steam room. My breathing was so relaxed and allowed me to meditate for a few minutes.
Comfort Zone is a brand that Glen Ivy uses exclusively in their body treatments. I was so thrilled to take home the tranquility oil so that I can continue to take time for me at home.
